Doc Klayman (left) and Bill Allen caught these four big stripers on Sunday. The biggest one weighed close to 30 pounds. They also had some nice walleye.

Would be even more impressve if they had been released for others, possibly their kids or grandkids to catch one day. I can't imagine a striped of that size really even tastes that good. It seems that on Bull Shoals, more so than other lakes, the mentality has been that if it makes it in the boat, next stop is the cleaning table. If only great fishermen could also be great sportsmen.....
I see your point. I'm not 100% sure without asking Doc or Bill, but I wonder if perhaps the fish died when they brought them in the boat? Whether the meat is the best eatin' or not, I know they did clean the fish and gave some of the filets away. So, they did not go to waste.
I have know Bill and Doc for many years and both men are great sportsmen as well as fishermen and they exemplify the very best of their profession. Both men are passionate about protecting and safeguarding Bull Shoals lake so that it will remain the awesome fishing lake that it is today. Way to go Bill and Doc.
There both butchers, they put a knife to every fish they catch. There no sportsman, they should of taken pictures and released them, shame on u Doc and Bill......
Please you need to look up sportmanship in the dictionary! Your probably someone that doesnt know a thing about the outdoors. When you catch a stripper its usually by accident... but if you would know better befor making your comments that strippers dont live if they are caught...Ive been out fishing with both doc and bill and seen them throw back keepers because they were to big to keep... Please be kind to what you say and know what your talking about before making such comments.... love to see these strippers caught nice job doc and bill.....lol and for you to post something at 2p.m is really what i would call a poor worker... GET TO WORK
Doc and Bill are not only great guys, but also understand the nature of the lake and it's ecosystem as they have fished this lake for many years. Not only do they always know when and where to catch fish, they know how to be good stewards of the lake. It's no ego trip for Doc to catch a big striper as he's probably caught more big fish for more years that just about anybody else around and thrown his share of big ones back. He understands you catch a few, you keep a few and those you do keep you clean and eat. He is happy to share his fillets with locals(even if he isn't sharing his methods;>) I suggest you keep the anonymous ad hominem attacks to yourself and talk to Doc in person regarding the matter. Perhaps he can enlighten you, perhaps not. In any case, this isn't a forum for debating wildlife policy, it is a place for folks who enjoy keeping up with the goings-on around Pontiac. In addition, the Morgan family who has done their fair share of stewrdship deserves all the business they can get in this economy and displaying big fish on the blog is a good way to show people what a great place Bull Shoals and PCM are! Personally, I am glad to see the bug fish being caught. One-it's a sign the lake is still healthy and growing biguns and two- so the little crappie and walleye have fewer predators and can grow to eatin size(They're way better eatin than stripers are anyway.
Bill and Doc are the best fisherman I have ever known. They have fished this lake with proffesionalsim and respect for the enviroment for many many years. They deserve all the best in fishing as far as I am concerned. As previously stated, strippers are caught by accident most of the time and die if caught. They did the right thing by cleaning them and sharing the filets with friends. Please do not make comments that are not in positive light about people that you obviously know nothing about. These are very kind hearted men and always treat other with great respect. Mabey those of you who made unkind comments should learn to do the same.
